The MCDBA credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server™ databases.

The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure Microsoft SQL Server
  • The MCDBA Certification is Appropriate for and those that desire to be:
    1. Database administrators
    2. Database analysts
    3. Database developers

    By earning the premier MCDBA credential, individuals are demonstrating that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • 2000 and 2003 certification track are available.

    Recommended Experience:
    MCDBA candidates should have at least one year of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.

The MCDBA Certification will require 4 exams (3 core and 1 elective).


MCDBA Certification Core Curriculum. The core exams are:

Exam 70-228: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
Exam 70-229: Designing and Implementing Databases with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
Exam 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
